"Yo soy un trabajador de la música, no soy un artista. El pueblo y el tiempo dirán si yo soy artista.

Yo, en este momento, soy un trabajador. Y un trabajador que está ubicado con conciencia muy definida."

Victor Jara, 1973

He was born in Barcelona a few months before the Berlin Wall fell. At Christmas 1995 a drumset appeared at home, that would start playing on Michael Jackson's "Dangerous" and the Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". Later, and as an unforgettable episode, he entered fully into the universe of jazz from the hand of the maestro and friend Quicu Samsó with the album "Live in Japan" by Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette. The composer facet feeds on his restless soul and the constant drive for creativity, an infinite curiosity and open to new experiences. This has led him to get involved in various instruments such as the piano, the sax, or the flute, in addition to venturing into the wide family of percussion instruments both with an indefinite sound and the chromatic ones, vibraphone and marimba, with interest to know their repertoires and interpretative possibilities. Academically, he obtained the title of Professional Degree at the Conservatory of Sabadell in the specialty of classical percussion (2014) and later in the Modern Music and Jazz l’AULA of the Conservatori del Liceu in the specialty of drums (2016). He has studied drums with professors Marc Miralta, Aldo Caviglia, Jordi Gardeñas and Gonzalo del Val, and has participated in several master classes with prominent musicians such as Jack DeJohnette, John Patitucci, Richard Bona, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Michael League, Bill Laurence and Jordi Rossy. In the field of musical language and composition, he has received classes in classical writing with theteachers Miguel Pardo and Benjamin Davis, and around jazz and modern music with Sergi Vergés, Bill McHenry, Toni Vaquer, David Mengual, Víctor de Diego, Roger Mas and Pablo Selnik among others. He has also made several academic stays abroad: first in Cuba, where he received classes from Ruy López-Nussa and Rodney Barreto (2018) and later in New Orleans with musicians such as Johnny Vidacovich, Herlin Riley and Joe Lastie (2019). He is currently studying the Superior Degree of Modern Music and Jazz at the Conservatori del Liceu in the specialty of interpretation, and combines training with teaching. In the professional field, he has experience in various band styles: from traditional jazz to the most avant-garde, genres such as rock, pop, country and ska, musical theater, symphony orchestra and cinema ("Ateuendos, signs and identities”, "La Santa Espina”, "Otros Tiempos" and "Barcelona Tourist Walk"). At the moment he is leading the tribute to Catalan rock from the 90s by the band Ruc’n’Roll, as well as his own line-up JONI WITZI Trio.
