"I am a music worker, I am not an artist. The people and time will tell if I am an artist.
I, at this moment, am a worker. And a worker who is located with a very defined conscience. "
Victor Jara, 1973
He was born in Barcelona a few months before the fall of the Berlin Wall. At Christmas 1995 a drummer appeared at home who would start playing the Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and Michael Jackson's "Dangerous". Later, and as one of those episodes that meant a before and an after, I entered the world of jazz with the master and friend Quicu Samsó with the album "Live in Japan" by Keith Jarret, Gary Peacock and Jack Dejohnette. The composer facet feeds on my restless soul and constant push for creativity, an infinite curiosity and open to new experiences. This has led me to immerse myself in various instruments such as piano, saxophone, recorder, violin or guitar, as well as venturing into the wide family of percussion instruments with both indefinite sound and plates - the vibraphone and the marimba - with interest to know their repertoires and interpretative possibilities. Academically, I obtained the title of Professional Degree at the Conservatory of Sabadell in the specialty of classical percussion (2014) and later in the Classroom of Modern Music and Jazz of the Conservatory of the Liceu in the specialty of drums (2016). I have studied drums with teachers Marc Miralta, Aldo Caviglia, Jordi Gardeñas and Gonzalo del Val, and have participated in several master classes by prominent musicians such as Jack Dejohnette, John Patitucci, Richard Bona, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Michael League, Bill Laurence and Jordi Rossy . In the field of musical language and composition, I have received classes in classical writing with the masters Miquel Pardo and Benjamin Davis, and around jazz and modern music with Sergi Vergés, Bill McHenry, Toni Vaquer, David Mengual, Víctor of Diego, Roger Mas and Pablo Selnik among others. I have also done several academic stays abroad: first in Cuba, where I received classes from Ruy López-Nussa and Rodney Barreto (2018) and then in New Orleans with musicians like Johnny Vidacovich, Herlin Riley and Joe Lastie (2019). I am currently studying the Higher Degree in Modern Music and Jazz at the Liceu Conservatory in the specialty of interpretation, and I combine training with teaching. In the professional field I have experience in formations of various styles: from traditional jazz to the most avant-garde, genres such as rock, pop, country and ska, musical theater and symphony orchestra. I have also made forays into the world of cinema, participating as a musical director, producer and performer (“Ateuendos, señas e identidades”, “La Santa Espina”, “Barcelona Tourist Walk” and “Otros Tiempos”). My activity is mainly concentrated on stages throughout Catalonia, but I have also done so in the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Country, as well as in various places in the Iberian Peninsula, such as Madrid, Castilla y León and Aragon. Among the various performances, the participation in the Costa Brava Jazz Festival, the Ripoll International Music Festival or the Tortosa Jazz Festival, and in such emblematic places as the Palau de la Música Catalana or the Teatro Ramos Carrión stand out. of Zamora. Right now I lead the homage to Catalan rock of the 90s by the band RUC'N'ROLL, as well as my own band JONI WITZI Trio.
